A little bit about me

My name is Mike Whitworth, GBR age group & long distance triathlete based in Henley-on-Thames.

I set up Swim to Live with Sophie Whitworth when we moved to Henley which provides an informal community for pool and river swimming. I’ve had a sales career in supplying food & drink to UK supermarkets and now am following my passion for coaching as an outdoor swim coach. My style will be to get to know your goals and tailor a programme for you and will be doing 1-2-1 coaching as well as group sessions.

From 1999 to 2010 I became a Team GBR age group athlete at standard distance triathlon with 13 starts and now compete in longer distance triathlons, swim & bike events.

It’s my dream to get to Ironman Hawaii and if I can’t get on the start list then I’ll be more than happy to support my wife Sophie and her ambition to get on the podium one day!

open water swimming benefits

It’s well understood that taking regular exercise is great for wellbeing and mental health. Swimming regularly can lower stress levels, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve your sleep patterns.

Open water swimming is a truly different experience to the pool, and one all swimmers should try without lane ropes or turns, it’s liberating, adventurous and unique.

Open water swimming is for every one of all abilities and age groups as long as you have the ability and confidence to swim 200m without being able to put your feet down.

Please get in touch and let’s discuss how we can help you achieve your goals and dreams!
