Winners 40-44yrs Ironman Switzerland

Back in business after 2 years away from competition. Started the season with a win at National Age Group Sprint Championships ;), closely followed by winning the overall age group female race at Windsor Triathlon. Super happy with this as my time was the same as 4 years ago when I was racing well at olympic distance.

All this came before my main race of the year IM Switzerland, where I won the 40-44yrs age group in 10.38.23….with 12 seconds to spare. This gave me a Kona slot, but as I am age-ing up next year to 45-49yrs [OMG!] I will wait until next year. Of course that involves another 10 hrs of pain somewhere in the world but I am happy to wait. Such an amazing moment to achieve this after a fairly bumpy return from injury / underperformance syndrome.

Team Life Venture race support got me on track – Winner of Windsor Olympic Distance triathlon

Whilst I have had v low points there has been such fun along the way – looking bike loads of training camps that were amazingly tough. I have changed a whole load in the way I train [like I added some rest it helps;)], added lots of treatment from Chiropractor Laurence Plant at Athleteservice, worked on strength and flexibility of core, glutes, hips & shoulders & heaps of specific training sessions with him plus many other athletes in Henley on Thames. Working in a logical way the training plan has been hugely successful and it has been great to guide other people throughout the season for their racing – an experience I won’t forget and plan to build on.

Many thanks to all at Athleteservice Laurence &  Rob, without you this would have not been possible, Think back to January 2013 😉
